What’s new at Feedmarker
4 Comments Published January 4th, 2007 in Feedmarker, Ruby on Rails, Teacher!Just a quick post to remind people that I’m still here! Development on Feedmarker has (obviously) been slow lately (due in large part to my new main project, Curbly.com), but I’m still making some time to tweaks things here and there and fix bugs. Now that the site is on it’s own dedicated server, making [...]
Feedmarker is back online, thanks my not-so-new friends at Slingshot Hosting (they’re also hosting Curbly.com, and doing a great job of it). We’re on a dedicated box, so look for better stability and faster download times from Feedmarker.com.

Feedmarker source code now on RubyForge.org
0 Comments Published June 11th, 2006 in Feedmarker, Ruby on RailsI’ve finally gotten around to setting up Feedmarker as a proper open-source project on RubyForge. Here’s the project url. The source code is in the SVN repository, which you can check out by doing:svn checkout svn://rubyforge.org//var/svn/feedmarker/trunkI’ll warn you that the code has not been cleaned up, and installing it on your machine may be a [...]
Some of us are still using the old bookmarklet from the previous version of Feedmarker, but for new users, I’ve added a bookmarklet on the “new source” page that you can use to make posting to Feedmarker a lot easier. Here it is, just drag it to your browser toolbar:Save to FM
Found an article called Real Lessons for Rails Deployment today via Peter’s blog, (although I think I may have come across it earlier while searching for help getting my Rails apps under control). In my experience, the hardest thing about developing an application in Rails is actually launching it on your server.
There are a ton [...]
Feedmarker: a new feature every 30 minutes
0 Comments Published March 2nd, 2006 in Feedmarker, Ruby on RailsOk, not really…I wish. But the latest thing I added to Feedmarker did take me literally thirty minutes to implement (from idea in my head to live on the production site). This is crazy fast, and in my opinion only possible thanks to Ruby on Rails.Anyway, from now on, whenever you bookmark a url that [...]
Feedmarker has been rewritten in Ruby on Rails. It’s basically the same application, although I’ve stripped out some stuff people weren’t using (maps, groups, etc.).Feedmarker is now open-source. You can download the source here. There are sure to be some bugs, as this is fairly new and untested code, so please feel free to e-mail me [...]
Check this interview I did with Emily Chang of eHub on how and why I built Feedmarker. It’s like behind the music, but for geeks. And here’s a new thing I’ve been working on: Teacher!
I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I wanted to point it out because I haven’t seen it used much; Feedmarker allows you to share your bookmarks with a limited group of users.
This is a pretty cool feature (I think) and I don’t know of any other bookmarker/newsreader that supports it.
Say you’re doing research on [...]
